PILOTS of small drones have been urged to keep their distance around Torness Nuclear Power Station.
The Civil Nuclear Constabulary noted an increase in “incidents” at the power station, to the south-east of Dunbar.
Officers spoke to drone owners and highlighted that the flying of “unmanned aerial vehicles” (UAVs) within two nautical miles of a nuclear site is an offence.
A spokesman for the Civil Nuclear Constabulary said: “Our officers issued the statement as they had come in to contact with several members of the public who were using UAVs for leisure purposes but were unaware of the regulations prohibiting the flying of drones in proximity to a nuclear site.
“The statement was not issued in response to any specific threat to the site from the hostile use of UAVs.”
